Cutler Coming to Chi-town |
OMG. As a Chicagoan -- like most -- OMG is my first thought. If you follow FantasyHulks.com or the Hulks Forum, you know Jay Cutler is one my favorite young quarterbacks, possibly my favorite youngster. For him to come to my hometown team -- one that typically doesn't cough up the cash -- is simply AMAZING and such a surprise. The city of Chii is going crazy right now, as we have finally landed the franchise QB we've waited on forever. At 26 years old with those physical tools, Cutler's long term NFL ceiling is as high as the sun. The talk around here is that the trade makes this possibly the second best day in Bears history, after Super Bowl XX. That's arguable, but it's def a top-3 moment. The city will love Jay and he'll love the city, not to mention the women.
On the flipside, imagine being a Denver Broncos fan right now. Josh McDaniels really screwed things up and he hasn't even coached a single game yet! I'd be sick to stomach if I was a Denver fan and would want McDaniels head on a platter. The 30-something year old dumb ass came into town thinking he was sheriff, flaunting his authority like he’s Bill Belichek or Charlie Weiss. Gimme a break bro, you're just a child. Cutler definitely showed immaturity too, but McDaniels started the drama so I ultimately blame him...or should I say thank him on behalf of Chicago hulks everywhere.
Denver should have at least made a deal that would have landed them Brady Quinn, who knows the system playing for Weiss at Notre Dame. Alongside McDaniels, Quinn could have become the next Matt Cassel, or maybe even better. Giving up Cutler just turned the Broncos into a “re-building” franchise, given the shaky quarterback situation and all the draft picks they received. Nice one Joshua. Sorry FF Librarian...
From a fantasy standpoint...Downgrade Cutler in 09' as a Bear compared to his Bronco potential, which is a shame. He’ll still be a nice option though, but less likely to post ridiculous numbers. Upgrade Matt Forte and the rest of the Bears offense though for sure! You should feel 100% comfortable selecting Forte top-5 this summer. Also, watch out for Earl Bennett as a sleeper, given Cutler and Bennett’s Vanderbilt ties. There go our hopes for Brandon Marshall and Eddie Royal becoming a Moss-Welker mimic...
